Koh Tao is a small island. From the hostel, everything — beaches, dive shops, restaurants, bars — is 5–10 minutes by scooter. The hill gives you peace without isolation. That’s a harder thing to find than proximity to a 7-Eleven.
The area in which the hostel is located is one of the best on the island in terms of being chill and laidback while still close to wonderful beaches.

We Could Have Built Downtown.
Most hostels on Koh Tao plant themselves right on Sairee Beach. Makes sense — visibility, foot traffic, easy access. We looked at that and chose the hill instead.
